J.S. Hamilton Red 2017
J.S. Hamilton started a grocery and liquor business in 1871 and partnered with with Thaddeus Smith of the Vin Villa Vineyards to promote Pelee wines. They then established the Pelee Island Wine and Vineyards Company. One of their most well-known products was St. Augustine Communion Wine, purchased by churches in Canada, the United States, and Great Britain. The Pelee Island Wine and Vineyard Company ceased operations from 1916 until 1979, when grapes were re-introduced to Pelee Island and today's Pelee Island Winery was established.
In honour of our winemaking pioneers we bring you our best red wine yet: a blend of Shiraz, Petit Verdot & Malbec. This stately wine demands your attention, with a core of dark plum, fig and blackberry notes. Its substantial presence makes it an excellent companion to fattier cuts of meat, like pork belly or a juicy ribeye, as well as rich cheeses like Stilton, Roquefort or Gorgonzola.
